Echocardiography, also known as cardiac ultrasound, is a medical imaging technique that uses ultrasound to create images of the heart to assess the heart’s structure and function. Transthoracic echocardiogram is a type of echocardiography which is the most commonly used and is performed on the chest wall to quickly evaluate the heart at the bedside.
